"In this site specific installation (deuterium) I am using everyday objects and vessels that are designed to move, carry, or store water in some form. The name refers to heavy hydrogen which is used in the production of heavy water which was one of the ingredients in the first atomic bomb. By nestling the blue pods underneath the trees they become water bubbles or water feeding station for the life of the trees in its area.
This piece I have created is about mans relationship to nature and in particular his relationship to water and the environment. I find it hard not to focus on water when we are living on a planet that is 71% water and that in our bodies we have 55% to 78% water at any given time. I used the color ultramarine because it has a spiritual essence about it and it has been one of the most costly and precious colors in history, In Latin ultramrinus literally means
Beyond the sea It is my hope that we as the stewards of this planet can use our technology to keep the planet and ourselves in balance"
