ZIPPY and the MOOSE at home in Wendell. I first noticed him at 9 a.m. from the kitchen window. He walked around a bit then disappeared down the path and into the woods. I went outdoors a few minutes later and heard a long whistle noise about 5 or 6 times. Apparently moose make whistle-like calls and grunts.

LUNA MOTH(Actias luna), found by Dawsy in Wendell MA, June 19, 2007.


This beautiful moth is only found in North America. It has been considered an endangered species since around 1980 because many have been killed by pollutants and pesticides. This moth was found dead in the grass on Locke Hill Road.
