Hello,
Today I visited the famous Kroller-Muller Museum of fine art with my friends. Last night I was almost sleepless in Euskirchen, worked in the computer for that museum.
Today it took 6 hours to visit the half of the sculpture park and the museum. I have seen Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore, Fontana, Aartini, U Mastroianni, J Dubuffet, E Strobos, K Snelson, Jacob Epstein and Fritz Wortrubos works. There are many more I could't mention. The sculpture park has a40 Kilometeres of Cycle way. We all travelled by cycle inside the park. entry fees 14 Euro. The museum is 203 Kms from Koln city. On the way we crossed Dusseldorf and Lever Kussen city. Then we entered into The Netherlands. acountry of Roses and Cycles. After many years I took a cycle ride for about 10 Kms.
My surprise was on when I entered into the museum. It starts with Jan Toorop, James Ensor, Vincent van Gogh, Auguste Renoir, Henri de Toulouse Lutrec, Pablo Picasso,Georges Braque, Juan Gris and many more. I saw the famous painting 'Potato Eaters' of van Gogh. Then my surprise enlarged when I entered into the room of Piet Mondrean. I took a foto of it.One must visit this amazing museum. They have 60 of van Gogh in their collection.
When Ms. Helene Kroller Muller died in 1939, she was buried in the museum. The painting Sunflower of van Gogh was displayed on her coffin. This sunflower tells the story of departure. 4 sunflowers going to the facotry for seed collection. Ms. Kroller made a history by establishing this museum, now she is departed...Who is this unique lady? The Kröller-Müller Museum is named after Helene Kröller-Müller (1869-1939). Helene Kröller-Müller collected almost 11,500 art objects with the help of her advisor, H.P. Bremmer. The purchases were paid for from the capital accumulated by her husband Anton Kröller as director of Wm. H. Müller & Co. Helene Kröller dreamt of a ‘museum-home’, a dream that came true in 1938 when the Rijksmuseum Kröller-Müller opened its doors. Helene Kröller-Müller was its first director. After her death in 1939 the museum building underwent a few expansions with the addition of a congress wing and sculpture gallery in 1953 and a whole new wing between 1970 and 1977. This wing served as a suitable accommodation for the growing collection of modern sculpture. The museum’s sculpture garden has increased in size over the years and is now one of the largest in Europe.
Hope you like it.
best,Rafique Sulayman
