La mostra SMS, ospitata nei nuovi spazi dell’ex asilo di Sant’Antonio,

ideata e realizzata per Dromosfestival da ASKÒSARTE e curata da Ivo Serafino Fenu

all’interno del festival “Donne d’altrimari”, propone una selezione di giovani artisti assieme ad altri già da tempo affermatisi nell’ambito del Contemporaneo.

Il termine SMS è qualcosa di più dell’acronimo inglese Short Message Service (servizio messaggi brevi) e può andare ben oltre il sistema di comunicazione tramite cellulare invalso soprattutto tra i giovani. Lo short message è, oramai, la forma comunicativa più usata da una società sempre più afasica, superficiale e frenetica, e questo indipendentemente dal mezzo utilizzato. La mostra si interroga senza pregiudizi su tale flusso di messaggi veicolati dal telefonino, dal graffitismo autoreferenziale che informa di sé spazi pubblici e privati, dalle chatline, dalla televisione, dal fumetto, dai videoclip fino alle desuete e in qualche modo anticipatrici incisioni sulle cortecce degli alberi. Anche il linguaggio dell’arte contemporanea è, del resto, da tempo, estremamente contratto nella forma e, come lo short message, identificativo di una determinata “tribù”, ellittico, allusivo, ricco di simboli e ideogrammi, primitivo e futuribile allo stesso tempo ma, non per questo, incapace di trasmettere storie di una realtà complessa e, talvolta, imbarazzante. È sufficiente captarne il brusìo cui occorre tendere l'orecchio con attenzione e pazienza fino a poter distinguere il suono raro e sommesso d'una parola che almeno per un momento è vera (Italo Calvino).
