WORDS OF LIGHT Mail Art

The 100th country or territory to visit this blog is GEORGIA. Despite Russia's invasion, art prevails.

  1. It is gratifying to see that even in brutal warfare and out of black and menacing clouds of smoke, among chaos and savage displacement, to some extent, mail art or at least interest in it, survives. I think we shouldn't use the word "inhumanity" for what men did in Georgia as it implies a discredit to non-humans (who can at least at times act with love, authenticity and compassion) but the seeing of many of these actions as possible and even inevitable, even inescapable, a seeing that of course makes them that way, comes in part from a blindness of feeling, from a feeling deadened like the head of an execution drum -- corrupt calculation, cynicism and of course realism led, to even a greater degree to amplification of these repeated and wearily repeated tragedies. How opposite mail art, which in essence flowers, or at least has the capacity to flower in humour, comradeship, freedom of thought giving birth to creativity! It's a distant handshake as handshakes' origins -- we do not hold weapons, and at least these pin lights can hint at the outlines of moments of friendship and respite.
