Ha lo stesso titolo di una canzone portata al successo negli anni sessanta dall’Equipe 84 l’esposizione di mail art che Vittore Baroni inaugurerà domenica 16 novembre 2008 alle ore 18.00 presso la galleria Maffei Arte Contemporanea di Viareggio, in via del Signore 3, con intervento musicale di Manitù Rossi del gruppo Le Forbici di Manitù. La mostra proseguirà fino al 30 novembre, con orario 17.30-20.00 (chiuso lunedì-martedì), ingresso libero.

La mail art o arte postale è un movimento artistico planetario erede di Dada e Fluxus, un circuito aperto di scambio diretto e collaborazione solidale a distanza, tendenzialmente alternativo ai meccanismi commerciali e competitivi del sistema dell’arte. Da oltre trent’anni Vittore Baroni promuove e documenta il fenomeno, tramite operazioni collettive e pubblicazioni, tra cui Arte Postale - Guida al network della corrispondenza creativa (AAA Edizioni 1997) e Postcarts - Cartoline d’artista (Coniglio Editore 2005).

Io ho in mente te non è una convenzionale esposizione personale bensì una raccolta di tracce e suggestioni, in forma di collage, dell’invisibile e quasi telepatica rete di interrelazioni creative intessuta da Baroni con centinaia di operatori in ogni angolo del pianeta. Ventiquattro autori da quattordici nazioni, una campionatura significativa della “famiglia allargata” della mail art, sono presenti in mostra con un lavoro formato UniA4: Anna Banana, Keith Bates, John M. Bennett, Guy Bleus, Antonino Bove, Piermario Ciani, Ryosuke Cohen, Mike Dickau, Arturo Fallico, H.R. Fricker, I Santini Del Prete, Ray Johnson, Graciela Gutierrez Marx, Rea Nikonova, Jürgen O. Olbrich, Clemente Padin, Pawel Petasz, Marlon Vito Picasso, Joan Puig, Claudio Romeo, Günther Ruch, Carol Stetser, The Sticker Dude, Rod Summers.

Vittore Baroni è nato a Forte dei Marmi nel 1956, vive e lavora a Viareggio. Critico musicale e indagatore delle controculture, collabora alle riviste Rumore e Pulp libri ed è autore di saggi su musica elettronica, cinema rock, psichedelia, poesia visiva, street art e fumetto. Dal 1978 promuove mostre, eventi, pubblicazioni e progetti collettivi sulla networking art e le culture di rete che hanno anticipato Internet.

Manitù Rossi è dal 1983 ispiratore e guida dei progetti musicali delle Forbici di Manitù. In un quarto di secolo, il gruppo ha registrato otto album per etichette discografiche italiane e internazionali (Disturbance, Alchemax, Staalplaat, Snowdonia, Small Voices, ecc.), dimostrando un’invidiabile preparazione nei più disparati idiomi sonori, dalla trance-ambient al noise, dal lounge alla techno.
