ED DAWSON in Mexico
...from the house and grounds (now museum) where Frida Kahlo lived (Leon Trotsky stayed there as well, before he fell out of favor with Diego Rivera)... Leon Trotsky museum (formerly his house and grounds). He lived here in exile, where he dictated books/memoirs, raised rabbits and chickens, and collected nopales (cactus) from the nearby countryside. He, his wife and grandson survived an assasination attempt in their bedroom by Stalinist agents (you can see bullet holes above the bed). A second attempt a few months later was successful -- he was ice-axed to death, by a Stalinist, in his office (see photo).
